Chinese Astrology and Western Signs Compatibility
erikthevermilion.com/relatio...tibility

In my opinion, the Chinese year of birth is one of the most important considerations in compatibility, more important than your birthday sign

Chinese astrology signs compatibility is very similar to signs compatibility in Western Astrology

but it is not that important.

If it seems to be important, it really isn't, there is something else at work.

The more immature a person is, the more their Sun-sign or Chinese Year compatibility matters.
Immature people should not be considering serious relationships anyway, until they become mature.

By mature, I mean not ego-driven, but service-driven and love-driven.

The Chinese signs correspond to the Western signs as follows:

Again it's partly like the Western system: Same elements are compatible. Opposite signs are incompatible. Here is the list:

· FIRE ELEMENT (in Western language) - Dragon, Monkey, Rat. Compatible with EACH OTHER.
· EARTH ELEMENT (in Western language) - Snake, Rooster, Ox. Compatible with EACH OTHER.
· AIR ELEMENT (in Western language) - Horse, Dog, Tiger. Compatible with EACH OTHER.
· WATER ELEMENT (in Western language) - Sheep, Boar, Rabbit. Compatible with EACH OTHER.

Chinese - Western

· Dragon - Aries
· Snake - Taurus
· Horse - Gemini
· Sheep or Goat - Cancer
· Monkey - Leo
· Rooster - Virgo
· Dog - Libra
· Boar or Pig - Scorpio
· Rat - Sagittarius
· Ox or Cow or Bull - Capricorn
· Tiger - Aquarius
· Rabbit - Pisces

Here are the opposite signs, that are incompatible with each other:

· Dragon and Dog
· Snake and Boar
· Horse and Rat
· Sheep and Ox
· Monkey and Tiger
· Rooster and Rabbit
·
There is another pair of compatibilities you need to consider, if you want to do a complete job of it. You get these by drawing horizontal lines on the Western zodiac wheel.

· Dragon compatible with Rooster
· Snake compatible with Monkey
· Horse compatible with Sheep
· Rabbit compatible with Dog
· Tiger compatible with Boar
· Ox compatible with Rat

Similarly there are pairs of incompatible signs, which you can find by drawing vertical lines through the Western zodiac wheel:

· Dragon incompatible with Rabbit
· Snake incompatible with Tiger
· Horse incompatible with Ox
· Sheep incompatible with Rat
· Monkey incompatible with Boar
· Rooster incompatible with Dog
·
I developed a point system for use with the Chinese signs. 3 points for your year of birth, 2 points for your Chinese rising sign (time of day), and 1 point for your birthday sign, or Sun sign (time of year).

Overveiw

The foundation of the Chinese Zodiac, was from KMT
the 12 "Earthly Branches" of the TREE OF LIFE represented by the 12 animal symbols

More than 3,000 years ago, KEMET people invented the 10 Heavenly Stems and 12 Earthly Branches for chronological and metaphysical purposes. These signs are used to designate the hours, days, months and years. However, since most people at that time were illiterate, the signs were difficult to use. Later, to make things easier to memorize, people used animals to symbolize the 12 Earthly Branches. The animals in order are the mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

According to one legend, during a Chinese New Year celebration, Buddha invited all the animals to his kingdom, but unfortunately, for reasons only known to the animals, only 12 showed up.

    Four Compatible Groups

In total there are four compatibility groups. Rat, Dragon and Monkey form the first group. The mouse is timid, the dragon is confident and the monkey thrives on the intelligence of the mouse and the dragon.

The second Chinese horoscope love compatibility group consists of Ox, Snake and Rooster. Here again you will find that all these three signs are deep thinkers. The ox is strong and sturdy, while the snake is diplomatic and alert. The rooster likes the traits of both the ox and the snake.

The third group consists of Tiger, Horse and Dog. All these three signs have a love for freedom and are also ego centric. Therefore, they understand each other well and are compatible.

The fourth group in Chinese love horoscope consists of the Rabbit, Pig and Sheep. All these three signs are peace loving and are always willing to compromise for mutual happiness.

    Incompatible Groups

Besides compatible groups there are also incompatible groups in Chinese astrology. For example, rat and horse do not go together. Similarly dragon and dog are incompatible. Tiger and monkey, ox and sheep, rabbit and rooster and snake and pig are all incompatible with each other.

In Chinese astrology, zodiac signs play a great role in determining the compatibility of various signs. However, this compatibility is also influenced by Yin and Yang. According to the Chinese tradition, everything in the universe has a masculine (yang) or a feminine (Yin) nature. And each sign falls into one of these two categories. Signs associated with even years are naturally Yang and those associated with odd years are Yin.

According to Chinese love horoscope, you are more likely to be happy with a sign that is compatible with yours.

      The Elements & The Zodiac

The 5 elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Each element is associated with a planet as well. Jupiter corresponds to Wood, Mars to Fire, Saturn to Earth, Venus to Metal, and Water to Mercury.

The 12 animals which constitute the Chinese zodiac are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. This order is based on the order in which they arrived in front of Buddha (in the story).

The calculation is based on the Chinese New Year. For the purposes of calculating our Chinese astrology sign, each year does not begin on the 1st of January, rather it begins somewhere around the 4th or the 5th of February.

Let us look at the elements and their governing zodiac animals in a little more detail:

      Wood:
This rules the Eastern direction, and governs the season of Spring. Ruled by the planet Jupiter, the color of this element is Green. It rules over the Chinese zodiac signs of the Tiger, Rabbit and the Dragon.

      Fire:
This rules the Southern direction, and governs the season of Summer. Ruled by the planet Mars, the color of this element is Red. It governs the Chinese zodiac signs of Snake, Horse and Sheep.

      Earth:
This rules the Central direction, and governs the change of the Seasons. Ruled by Saturn, the color of this element is Yellow. It governs the signs of Dragon, Rat and Ox.

      Metal:
This rules the Western direction, and governs the season of Autumn. Ruled by Venus, the color of this element is White. The signs of Monkey, Rooster and Dog are governed by this element.

      Water:
This rules the Northern direction, and governs the season of Winter. Ruled by Mercury, the color of this element is Blue. It governs the signs of Pig, Rat and Ox.

        Interaction between the Elements

Chinese astrology compatibility is based upon the interaction between these elements. These interactions are classified as being either of the ‘Generating’ type or of the ‘Overcoming’ type.

Here is the list of interactions based on the ‘Generating’ principle:

        · Wood feeds Fire.
        · Fire creates Earth.
        · Earth contains Metal.
        · Metal collects Water.
        · Water nourishes Wood.

Here is the list of interactions based on the ‘Overcoming’ principle:

        · Wood parts the Earth.
        · Earth absorbs Water.
        · Water douses Fire.
        · Fire melts Metal.
        · Metal cuts Wood.

This way, the interactions of these elements helps to explain the cyclic nature of the World.

One must notice that contrary to Western astrological meanings, the elements in Chinese astrology are not actually ‘static’. These elements are held to be constantly ‘in movement’ and keeping the cycle of Life going on.

Based on the basic interactions between these elements, the signs that are governed by these elements will interact with each other.
